The Edgely Fire Department's
new Pierce Contender Custom
is presently being built in
Pierce's Contender plant in
Florida and is expected to
be delivered in July, 2006
The
Contender custom pumper is a
short wheelbase cab-over
design engineered from the
frame rails up for
firefighting. The cab
features a large windshield
for a commanding view of the
road and excellent
on-the-scene visibility.
The cab interior is
engineered to deliver a open
environment with a low
engine tunnel and no cross
tunnel between the cab and
crew area for more room and
easier en route
communication .
The Contender custom
pumper now feature a new
152-inch long body style.
This new body is engineered
to deliver a full depth
compartment in the lower
rear side of the body for
storage of larger equipment
such as exhaust fans. In
fact, the body provides an
extra 21 cubic feet of
storage space.
Contender custom pumper
models offer anodized
roll-up doors as standard
equipment with lap doors are
available as an option.
All Contender custom
pumpers carry a 10-year
limited body structural
warranty. |
